It was touch and go there for a while Mike. I did fullfill my goals for the day except I did not see the start of ingress or egress due to cloud. I got good data though and cannot be unhappy as a result.

Shots are being posted thick and fast but yours is the best I have come across so far.

Paul, can you tell me whether there might be any evidence of Venus's atmosphere in your image?
I can see a faint halo around the dark disk.

Is this H-Alpha filter is same as that we use it for DSO? If yes, then should i have to use with combination of solar filter?

Thanks guys, Wait till you see the final image. Each panel looks so sweet coming out of avi stack. Now on my fifth panel and that should be stacked in 20 minutes. One panel after that.

Gary and Greg, I am not sure if that is atmosphere or just a processing artifact. Most likely the later, but I am very happy all the same.

Arif this is a solar Ha filter not a DSO filter. Vastly different in terms of filtration and you cannot use the later for solar imaging even with a white light filter.

Chris you can produce images like this, it just takes practice and equipment. Keep practicing and it will come.

Steve, I was bloody freezing when we did that interview. I went with the jacketed look and it was about 12 degrees and very stupid to stand out there that long. It paid off though ASSA had around 3000 people in the plaza during the course of the day and that is all great. Lots of excited kids and adults seeing something they never knew they could.

Great to hear of so many people at the Festival Centre plaza. I was busy imaging at Uni all day and showing people the view on campus. A few students and academics set up telescopes so people passing could view it as well. A technician also set up a Coronado and a webcam to display on a laptop which had a lot of interest. There were a few 'wows' when I first walked up to it and pointed out a prominence!

I had the opposite situation here, watched the ingress and approximately the first hour, then it got clouded out after that. It looked spectacular and given the miserable weather outlook we had here I'm very happy to have seen what I saw.
