Picked up the solar filter today. It fits as snug as a bug.

And of course its cloudy lol
I ordered some baader film which arrived last week as well. Made up a filter yesterday. The sun is quite impressive to look at at the moment with all the sunspots. I tried taking some photos of it as practice for the upcoming transit. Found out it is quite hard to get a decent shot just holding the camera up to the eye piece. Here are a couple of photos that came out 'ok'. Need to get some more practice in so i can get some nice pics and hopefully the whole sun when Venus transits it.

I also bought the similar filter for 80mm refractor today and will build it this weekend.
Pat those shots are amazing! Well I think so anyway.
I want to have a try at putting the camera to the eyepiece of my 10" dob and taking some piccies of the transit too. From what you've posted, I may have half a chance of getting a reasonable pic then ... and wow, all those sunspots- I'd like to have a try at capturing those!
Definately go for it Suzy. That was taken through my 12" dob on a 25mm eye piece its just a little tricky to get the angle of the camera right. Had to hold a dark sheet over my head as well so I could actually see what was going on. And I think they came out pretty good too, kind of an artistic touch lol.

1 day to go until the transit and it was cloudy so i couldnt get out and do some more test images, so i made a solar filter for my finderscope.
Just cut up a pair of eclipse glasses cut a hole in a lid from spray paint can, some cardboard around the bottom of can to make it a snug fit and used lots and lots and lots and lots of tape. I think i used about half a roll of tape lol
