so, I purchased a copy of Light room 4 on the recomendation from a friend of mine, Have to say I really like it.

I dragged all my old pictures up from my visit back home to Scotland a few years ago and reworked this. I really like this version, it's quite different to the last version I did.
The amount of really cool pictures I got from this one day was incredible. I actually got lost on my way to somewhere and found myself driving about the country side in the amazing fog. The sun never really gets above about 15deg in the winter in Scotland so that light, what little you get, is amazing.

All the processing done in LR4, it's a crop as well.

Wow, that is a beautiful image. I have never heard of Lightroom 4 what does it do that photoshop doesn't?

Spent years there - cold miserable winters and wholly sandfly riddled summers.
Climbed Schehalion in winter and slid down an icefield alsmost to Lock Rannoch Station - nearly killed myself on a rock ledge half way down.

Truly amazing place - shame about the climate and inhabitants

Thanks guys. I had this printed at office works and the sky came out looking really orange does it look too orange on your screens? Need to calibrate the monitor I think.

Hi Chris.

Lightroom 4 is an adobe product like photoshop but it works with raw image formats. You can also do timelapse with it.

The midtones have been pushed so far that the shadows are blocked and the resulting image is heavily posterised.

Not sure if you can notice it, but, the detail that may once have been in the reflections on the far right have got that pink hue to them that oftens happen when you try to reveal highlight detail by pulling your exposure latitude by more than 2 stops.

When you go to make prints, make sure you adjust the image in Photoshop and make it bright. By a fair amount. You will /always/ get a dark image in print compared to what you see on screen.

Unless your printer is calibrated to your screen, you have to make test prints until you get the correct output.

Yeah, its pushed past the limit. You have to learn the boundaries and breaking them is probably the best way to find them.

I was a sound engineer for years and it's funny how similar the two fields are. Learning to mix a track is the same, you always over do the fx like reverb or delay until you learn the track is about the music and not the reverb and delay. I guess in my case saturation is my reverb but ive yet find the boundaries.
