East coast low for transit???

the likelyhood of an eastcoast low for the tranist is looking more and more the case. One thing i have noticed on the 4 day forecast MSSP chart is that the High in the bight is intensifying to 1041hp and the low centred over NSW and it cousin forming off the coast of qld are 1002 and 1004 respectivly . thats quite a difference!

Basically if I understand this right no one from tasmania through to way up past Brisbane will have a good view. That is the BOM view of things, though accuweather has Brissy being clear and sunny and Coffs Harbour being partly cloudy, Newcastle and Sydney is written off and as far out as Coona is shrouded in cloud - i am watching the predictions for Coffs and Brissy intently.

Coffs i can drive and take most gear, brissy is travelling light

Why couldnt this have happened a week or two ago

Looks to be very windy too, especially with that difference in pressure between the L and H.

the only spot that looks like it will be ok is Adelaide - and that costs an arm and a few legs to get there from here, brisbane is only a finger

high along the coast of NSW but less that 10% in the west of the state.

The satellite images of cloud over will be the ones to watch in the coming days.

The Forecast Explorer, which is part of the Bureau's "Next Generation Forecast and
Warning System" has tipped "Mostly sunny" for Bourke and Tibooburra and
"Partly Cloudy" for Cobar and Broken Hill.

The Explorer goes down to a 6km grid scale.

And for my town we have a temp range of -2 to 12 and 60% chance of rain. NOT GOOD

i was thinking of heading west if it doesn't look good tuesday morning,you maybe right david about coffs harbour but i like to be out near tamworth away from the coastal cloud.then head out from there if it is still cloudy what are your thoughts on that!!!!!!!!

will be discussing the weather tonight at the NAS meeting. melbourne is a chance to be clear as is brisbane, but the sad forecast for home is just that - sad. it might be a looong drive/fly somewhere. DNight is sunday.

Fingers crossed. Missed out on both total lunar eclipses last year due to cloud.

We are going to monitor the satellite coverage closely the day before and are
then considering a road trip heading off on the Tuesday afternoon depending on how
things pan out.

Back in Cook's day of pursuing the transit, the crew were greeted by topless Tahitian maidens.

All we are asking for is a break in the clouds.
