Polar Align -2.1 for iPhone/iPAD

Hi All,

Found another app for iPhone and iPAD : Polar Align 2.1 that may be useful to GEM owners.

It can be used by anyone with a GEM with Polar Scope and Reticule to accurately place Sigma Octantis for polar alignment.

I have checked its accuracy against the iPhone/iPAD Tak Align app and it is on par.

Apparently if you have a camera in your device you can make a mount and overlay the image to somehow improve your accuracy. I have not tried that side as I use my iPAD and it does not have a camera.

Cheers

Hi Phil

Interesting find. I'm downloading it now (after all my other apps 'update') but I note it requires a suitable 'adapter' to work with the polar finder scope. I'm using an HEQ5 pro and happen to have a neat little iphone steadypix jig from orion, that will work well I think for visual.

I might look at Alignmaster as well (http://www.alignmaster.de/en_alignmaster.html).
