NGC4038 in colour finally

I'd hoped for a bit more for 4 hours of NGC4038. But I'm happy with what I managed to get..... and finally in colour.

Camera:SXVR-M25C 24x10min
Scope: VC200L

Its no LRGB but I'm very happy with the detail and final colour. Colour balancing the SX if still a challenge but worth it ... I think.

Good work on a tricky target, Paul. 4 hours isn't very long at that f-ratio!

Cheers,
Rick.

Thanks Rick, if its fine again tonight I'll might add another 5 or 6 hours to it. It'd be nice to have another meter or so of focal length though.

Very nice view Paul, showing the outer extentions also. Glad to see you got the colour issue sorted with your camera. All the best.

Cheers Lester. Fingers crossed now for it to be clear around the next new moon so I can try again. Boy that would be something to see up here, two cloud free new moons ..... let alone in a row

Hi Paul,

Nicely done and plenty of detail, you can really see those extensions

The only thing is the colour seems to be a bit too brownish, either you need more blue/less red or perhaps you haven't got the right debayering routine for the camera?

BTW..hows the AP900 going?

Terry

nice Paul can just start to see the arms- I am finding out how much data i need for this as well.

I lost 3 hours worth last night - got 2 ten min shot then the rest of the 22 shots had drift - my guide camera and PDH spat it for some reason? as you can see in these unprocessed shots i am not happy.

hope you got more data to build on you shot

Yes the colour is a bit brownish olive Terry. I'm still working on that. The camera looks to have good red and brown sensitivity but a bit short on the blue. But I'll get there

Thanks Dave, I hope so too. One good thing about AP, if you miss it one night, there's always another some when.
