Have only just got around to processing this data. Had to fight some quite bad gradients caused by an uncooperative street light near my house! Anyway here it is.

Aperture: 254 mm
Telescope Mount Model: Skywatcher EQ6PRO
Camera Model: QHY10

I suspect the underlying data is excellent and given the integration time I'm a little surprised about the noisy appearence. Did you by any chance sharpen this picture or use any noise reduction algo on it? It's quite a good shot at that FL but something's gone wrong in the processing IMHO.

Thanks Marc,

I have had a good look at the data and there seems to be a fair bit of noise, I strongly feel that the Gain setting for the QHY10 is set too high. I have gone back over my graphs for setting the gain and after hitting the QHYCCD site feel that I need to make an adjustment. As for the processing I had not run any sharpening but I had also not run any noise reduction. I've had a bit of a go in a repro here and hope that I haven't done too much.

Many thanks for the useful comment.

I think the issue is the raw data coming off the camera itself paul, like we have discussed. Although the noise suppression has worked, i feel its deleated fine details which is a shame.

The other thing to note is this is what a 2000mm FL scope on a EQ6 guided by..... a 50mm finder guider........ Says something for the EQ6 when its tuned properly!

H Paul,
What was your gain and tolerance set to on the QHY10?
I have just started playing around with one and I'm still trying to find the sweet spot.

Cheers
Shaun
