'tis the M83 season.

This was more of an experiment than anything else, while trying to sort out the problem I was having with the colour of my SX25. While there is colour there and its ok, I'm not getting the red highlighting I'm hoping for.

M83 - 21x10min, SXVR-M25C OAG with Exview Autoguider attached to Vixen VC200L. Lights, darks and flats processed in DSS with post processing in PS CS3.

You've nabbed those back ground galaxies nicely in this one.

Maybe if you turn to an object like M8 and experiment on it with the camera settings.

whoops wrong one.

Lots of little galaxies in the uncropped version. This is about a 3/4 crop

It's all there Paul. Balance it up and selective colour.

Have you done a G2V to check the colour balance yet?

No Robin, I haven't gone to that sort of detail yet. Basically just playing around with it atm. I've bee trying to sort out the bayer matrix in DSS to get it to process in the right colour channels to start with. There's quite a few other things I can try as well, but I might look into balancing it now that I seem to have the BM sorted. I'll see if there is anything in the field to use.

Thanks Ross. Its very nice to out there again siphoning photons from the sky.

Thanks Rob, its nice to be able to get some practice in before AF. Otherwise I think I'd be spending my time there trying remember how it all goes together. Of course new moon hoodoo is still here, this weekend, again, I see. I was really hoping to get in a big weekend.
