A great loss indeed but, his legacy will live on in the many iconic muscle cars that he lent his name to....and raced

Without wanting to sound like I'm diminishing his contribution - the AC Cobra is the result of Carrol Shelby taking the British designed and built AC Ace, and replacing the original 6 with a dirty great V8. That was pretty much his genius, to see the potential in exisiting cars, and make them ludicrously fast.
He was definitely the patriarch of the muscle car scene.

Yep a great loss, I didn't know until I was watching F1 qualifying last night that he actually raced in early F1.

Yes I agree. He was a smart man. The car world would not be the same without him. Took my Cobra for a 350km drive today in his memory.
