As Brendan pointed out, my previous posting of this nebula had a rather over processed look. I've attempted to rectify that with this version but one should bear in mind that this is a very faint object and a lot of stretching is required to bring out the detail.
I didn't want to comment on the original my mum always said if you haven't got something nice to say don't say anything.
I'm going to break that rule here, although this is an improvement over the original post it still lacks the colour balance, definition, and clarity of your usual work IMO
Could it be a data issue, can you give us access to the raw data,
There's absolutely nothing wrong with the data in fact it's quite good having been taken after local midnight. Maybe it's a bit over stretched but I wanted to bring out the really faint blue nebulosity at the edge. I've had nothing but positive comments about it on the CCDAstro forum so I'm a bit at a loss to understand why it's gone down so badly here.
Your second image has certainly brought out more detail and I like the colours. I'm still just a learner but I'd be more than happy with an image like this.
Very nice Steve. I tried to image this a couple of years ago at Astrofest and found it pretty tough. You have done a good job getting the detail and colours.

Thanks Peter. It must have been pretty low.

Cheers,

Thanks Justin. Actually I did tweak it some more after Trevor's comment.
I had a play with the colour balance in CMYK mode what do you think
obviously a difficult one to process just right in RGB
Cheers
Trevor
Hmm - have to say I'm getting thoroughly sick of this object. I can't see a lot of difference with yours Trevor except that you seem to have introduced a slight magenta tint to the brightest part of the nebula but maybe it's just my tired old eyes.
