Back after a forced hiatus
I was getting some strange reflections in my RHA so after some detective work I sent it back to AP for a redesign of the internal baffle. It took about three and a half months. But now its back and I needed to test the scope.
This is an image of M101. I stretched the data pretty severely looking for any signs of the previous reflections. I am glad to say that there were none. This image isn't that impressive but it does show some of the fainter arms not usually seen in images of this galaxy.
No reflections though, and that is the important thing.

I am glad to see that you are all doing well still. Great forum.

Reflections, hmm yes I know how elusive they can be. I have been chasing a few lately.
Great image although the galaxies colours are off being magenta and not yellowish cores.
Stars are awesome and background is fab.
Welcome back.
Greg.

Wonderful image. I've really enjoyed swimming around in this image for quite a while Tom. Thanks so much for sharing and glad you're back in business.
I love M101, but some of the edge on background galaxies are SO clear too!

Amazing image Tom. It does seem a bit purple around the core but wow, what a great way to come back.
I look forward to more!

Welcome back Dr. T
The purple is from the special coatings that Roland uses, No?

Hey jg!
Good to see you here! Actually, the magenta/purple came from my old eyes and the desire to rid the image of light pollution green!

Nice M101 Tom. I tried this recently myself using Dean Salman's scope in Arizona and found it surprisingly tough. You've definitely done it justice.
Cheers
