Hooters!

Some owl shots from recent travels. Once again, all shots with the 7D and the amazing 70-300mm L lens. There's a bit of jpeg compression on these to fit the site limits.

1. Short Eared Owl swooping towards its prey - Genovesa Island, Galapagos

2. Short Eared Owl head on

3. Short Eared Owl consuming its prey

4. Spectacular Owl - Jungle on the Penas Blancas River, Costa Rica

LOL... Very nice shots Jason.

You'll be hunting for Paridae next.

There seems to be a theme to your thread titles but I can't quite grasp it at the moment.

Jason,

I see by the travel destinations and the images that you have been having a great time !

Capturing birds of prey in flight like that is very satisfying, so you must be happy.

Wow, that lens has very, very little CA - the Spectacular Owl shows that really well, so I can see how you would be pleased with that - especially given its flexibility.
I just looked it up - 4 stops of IS too !

How much have you cropped those ?

Anymore interesting creature shots to show ?

Rally

Edit
PS Well done David !!
Nice to see its a family friendly site.
One is the hand is always better than two in the bush !

Thanks very much everyone, I must admit I was amazed when these images stared appearing in my camera!

Yes Zane, I reckon it's almost the perfect travel lens, definitely so for people and wildlife anyway.

Not much Rally, the first is about 80% of the frame, the head-on about 70% of the frame, the eating shot is pretty much the whole frame, I managed to get about 3 metres from him! The Spectacular Owl is much more cropped, maybe 20% of the frame.
