Stacking planetary CR2 files - How!?

I took a bunch of images of Saturn on ANZAC Day, and while DSS works well with star fields, it states explicitly that it won't work with planetary images, because it uses the stars to align.

Fair enough. No complaints about that, because DSS works pretty well.

So, what can I use to either:

1. Convert CR2 files to a lossless format such as TIFF
2. Stack the CR2 files as they are?

I tried the Canon software for batch converting, but it failed every time. Not sure why.

Any alternatives to these?

Thanks all.

Have you tried Registax?
It's free and will load cr2s, also there is avistack.
They are both more a dedicated software for the planets and the moon so maybe try one of them. Although they are generally used for videos it may work.

Adobe lightroom rules for batch work if you ever have batch work to do.
