Imaged Saturn last night. The region of the new NNTrZ spot meant starting very early in the evening, my first data being captured at an alt of only 32 degrees. The seeing was good again but not quite up to that of the previous night. There is still nice detail in this data though.
Have attached 2 RGB, 2 807nm IR & the 2 "R" channels from the RGB's but resampled 130%. The first RGB was at an alt of only 36 degrees and I think it is close to the best I have ever done at that sort of alt.
Have also attached RGB, "R" & 807nm IR animation. Looking at my data since April 10th, the new spot is obviously better resolved in the nights of good seeing. I think it is more the variations in seeing that make the spot appear more or less brighter.
I don't think there is any intrinsic brightening of the spot as yet.
I recall many of the SED's related spots that I have previously imaged, in particular the storm that started Dec 2007 which brightened significantly through Jan & Feb 2008, those changes in brightness seemed quite rapid but this spot just seems to be maintaining the status quo at the moment. Hope this blossoms into something special over the coming weeks.
