My first sunset attempt

Well I just cant keep away from Lake Pamamaroo.
I could see a good sunset coming so I had to have a go.
For the first time in my life I set the Canon to Manual and had a play.
Theses were the settings.
F-9
ISO 1600
Focal length 55
The original shot is a whopping 16.5 meg.
I hope you like it.

Cheers Kev.

Golly gosh that's magnificent mate! I'd keep hanging around there!

I'd probably crop the bottom left black shoreline off as it's a bit distracting and draws the eye away.

Baz.

Nice location. I've got some shots at Lake Menindee but not of that quality. I agree with Baz, the black at the bottom left should go. Perhaps if you had been closer to the shore??

Great shot Kev, and well done on your first go at manual control. After a while it becomes second nature, and you resort back to auto when you're in a real hurry or just couldn't be bothered. I now carry an external light meter - a little Sekonic L-208 which is designed to measure ambient, not direct light. Simple

I agree with the others about the black foreshore. I'd crop it just above, leaving the tree sitting on the right third at that aspect ratio. Very noice!

Beautiful shot Kev.

I haven't been there but I recollect Pamamaroo was the camp site for one
of the support teams of the ill fated Burke and Wills Expedition.
I gather it is the same place?

Thx Liz and Gary.
Yes The dig tree is only 700 metres to the right of the pic and on the oppisite of the levee bank as the Darling river is just behind us.

Cheers
