Caldwell 100 IC2944 "The Running Chicken"

Hello everyone,

I managed to sneek out last night and capture this image of the "Running Chicken".

This Nebula is a beautiful example of an H2 region emission nebula, if you look closely you will notice some "Bok" Dark nebulosity within it.

Instrument: Bintel 8" Newtonian Astrograph
Focal Ratio: F/4
Camera: Pentax K x
Camera Sensitivity: iso 800
Exposure Details: 12 x 5 minute subs + Master flat, dark and Bias frames
Mount: NEQ6pro
Autoguider: Orion Autoguider, Saxon ED80 guide scope
Date: 17th April 2012
Viewing Location: Balnarring Victoria
Software Enchancements: DSS PS CS2
Comments: Excellent viewing
Seeing conditions: 9

That is really good Paul, I love the star colors, the wide field and the tight stars
Is that a 12mp camera?

Yes the "Pentax Kx " is a 12mp camera, when I take subs over 3 minutes you can easily tell it isnt a CCD, but a basic Cmos.
Still i am happy with the results.

I just want to cut my teeth on imaging and problem solving before I jump into ccd, not to mention saving up

I didn't know Caldwell did 2944 objects
