Southern Pinwheel M83

Hi ya,

The Barred Spiral Galaxy, M83 the Southern Pinwheel. A neighbouring Galaxy only 15million Lightyears away which is claimed to have a double Nuclei ?

Taken Leyburn Mar 25th, the Bob'servatory, Heq5p mount, SW ED100, F/9, Stock Dslr, Autoguided.
Image: 6x2min + 6x6mins stacked seperately in RegistaX, Exposure blending & processed in CS3, Slightly cropped !

Hope its worth a squizz as my gear is only very basic, but an OK result for me & a cheap scope, Processing has brought out what faint stuff ok and the exposure blending shows the core details which is/was basically the intension

Advice always welcome , ,

Well that's pretty good for the gear you have, I like it . You've got a good handle on all aspects of what it takes and have put some effort in to it.

That's a good M83 image Bob. Looks a little too green though on my monitor. Application of HLVG might improve that.

Cheers

Nice work Bob,

Plenty of details and some nice colour too.

Keep it up, that image scale is great!

Cheers

Only one thing it needs is more data. Lots of subs would give you smooth data which will work even better. For what you have here the image is pretty good.

Appreciate all the support everyone ,,Yep I Agree, MORE Subs, Unfortunatly @ F/9 and the target had passed the NS Meridian, so had to give it up, also doing individual Dslr ICNR's, well, oldschool in the current times, Lol, tho am thinking of banking some dark frames, plus in the process of making a new Peir Head to addapt the new Neq6p with the 200mm F/4 for this winter = More data

Cheers , , , ,

Well done, mate, your on the right track!

As Paul said, more subs. If you can't get any more this year, you can always collect some next year and add them all up.

Well done for the amount of data. An interesting target - I live in the northern US and it appears this object only gets about 17 degrees above my southern horizon...worth a shot!

And as others have said, get more data and add it. You're off to a good start on this object.
