TeleVue Starbeam Finder

Wanted :
TeleVue Starbeam w/- Flip Mirror

like the one in the pic ... BUT ... an older version ... all metal construction.

The new version has plastic incorporated.

Review found on the Web about the new version...... http://www.optcorp.com/product.aspx?...-167-1323&tb=8

Unpleasent Surprise
I ordered this in 2012 because I wanted the best red dot finder out there. I was suprised to discover that Televue has changed the build of the illuminator part without updating the product photo. It is now made totally of cheap plastic rather than metal in the older version. I am afraid to break it while turning it on and off. At this price point, it simply unacceptable.

It's a long shot ... but you never know your luck on IIS.

Pm if you can assist ..!! Flash

Flash - why not simply adapt another RDF - it is easy enough. No doubt TV are fantastic for their glass but this is one thing - especially in light of the plastic production development - where other manufactures are probably just as good. Just buy some light green paint for the aesthetics.

Actually had that in mind ... wanted to see if anyone had the TV one ... just to keep the same ' brand ' in the setup.

I've owned and used an original TV Starbeam in years gone by. They're a lovely RDF. However, I don't think I could part with the money that TV charges for them these days given that they really are just a fancy RDF. The cheapies do the same job.

My Telrad doesn't look very fancy I must admit, but its a work horse that lasts forever. Alternatively, you could get one of the multi target RDFs that Bintel sells that also work very well. They're quite light and have decent, compact looks.

It looks great Colin. Well done. That's what I was using on my Stellarvue SVR80ED before. Good little finder, and the coin batteries last well in them.
