Help getting astro stuff posted from the US

Hi

Can anyone suggest someone in the US who can receive something I have paid for, and then post it to Australia, without charging an arm and a leg?

Paying a fortune would defeat the purpose of buying direct from the US ..really all it it should consist off is slapping a new label on and taking it to the Post Office?

I was counting on my brother, but he has upped and moved from Chicago to Dubai

Will be some months yet before I am advised thatit he scope's ready to ship so I have time.

Narayan

I'm going through the same issue, Narayan.

While I cannot help you with an individual who may want to do this (otherwise I'd be using them also), I am looking for one of those 'third party' companies who redirect postal items within the US to Australia. Mainly for small items.

Sorry, I don't mean to hijacking your thread, but if anyone can provide any recommendations of such a company?

Narayan, is yours a one-off or a regular shipment?

Cheers,
Stephen

Hi guys,

The easiest way is to use a frieght forwarding company as Stephen sugests. I have used one(Shipito) on a couple of occasions with no problems. If the freight forwarding company is in california you may be charged a 10% gst tax. With Shipito they have various depos around the country, but you need to provide enough ID to get above 50points then you can use thier other depots.
If you are purchasing multiple items from differant places, shipito will hold them till they have all been recieved, pack them all together, depending on your preferance, they will remove items from the shipping boxes that they came to them in and conbine them into one package(for a small fee). I found their rates very good and reliable.
There are a number of these company's around. This is just my experiance.

You may find some online stores dont charge for delivery to US addresses, but may charge a lot to send to Aus. So it may be cheaper to have item sent to the FF company.

Hope this helps.

Regards

Priceusa is also great. They buy it for you and ship it to you in Australia. I just bought an expensive camera on astromart with no issues. Great to deal with.

Do you know if the business you're purchasing from are aware at all that you're from Australia? I'm thinking more about how some companies will not post outside the US. Also some Amazon.com sellers won't/cannot sell some product outside the US.

Cheers,
Stephen
