We're all dreamin of an ' Autumn Holiday.

I was given an order to book a holiday in May. I've had so little work on myself it seems like a holiday everyday, but I digress. It looks like we are off to New Zealand Nth Island in May.

I worked NZ in the eighties and was there for over a year around Raglan and New Plymouth on the top end and The Bluff down south looking for Gas / Oil. I didn't see any of the tourist type sites apart from the inside of a cobb and co on shore or the inside of a helicopter getting there

What are the must see stops on the North Island of NZ that I need to add to the todo list

How long have you got over here ?
How much do you want to drive\travel ?
How much do you want to spend ? ( ie are you going all out or doing it budget wise ? )
What are your interests ?
What do you want to see ?

I'd suggest Milford Sounds, Queenstown, Otago if you want super scenic and Pinot Noir.
Rotorua, Tauranga, Taupo for scenic and cultural experiences.
Napier, Malborough\Nelson, Canterbury, Otago for wines.
Kaikoura for whales and crayfish.
Auckland for nightlife, food, beers, more wines (again), whales (again) sailing, boating, beaches.
Coromandel for beaches, fishing, bush walks ( although you can do that anywhere in NZ really ).

(I should be a tour guide )

At least 2 full days in Rotorua. Jet boating just north of Taupo at Huka Falls. The Waitomo caves. At least 2 full days in the Bay of Islands.
