Shows promise Andrew. Nice colour and you've got some of the granulation detail as well. Will be a cracker setup for the Venus transit when you sort the exposure out.

Hi Andrew,

Pretty good image for a test shot. Are you using the visual (5) Baader solar film or the photographic only (3.8) Baader solar film?

I purchased the class 5 Baader solar film as I intended to stick with the visual observation. I have tried to image with it but it might be a little too 'dark'. It does deliver super crisp views of the sunspots at the eyepiece but it is difficult to replicate it at the camera.

Thanks everyone, this isn't the setup I'll be using for the transit, I plan on having the full disk showing...

Yes this is the ND5 Visual filter, it allows plenty of light through for photography. To get a sharper, smoother image you might have to stack the frames.
