Outing Myself

OK. Anyone who knows me knows i have aqlways been an SCT kind a guy!
C9.25 on EQ5
CPC1100
Nexstar4SE (technically a MAK, but whatever)
All GoTo.

Whenever I was around there was always the familiar, comforting sound of "the coffee grinder" as the guys call it.

But a few months ago I sold my faithful CPC1100, just because it appeared as "wanted" in the IIS Classifieds.

For a while now, I turn up at star parties with a comfortable chair, a star chart, and my faithful Orion mini giant 9x63 binos.

I must admit that I have learnt more about the constellations in the last two months than in the previous three years.

But I always felt I was missing something. Something important.

But now i have done the unthinkable.
My coffee grinder friends will be aghast.
As a famous quote from my favourite genre says:
My journey to the dark side is now complete.
Friends will say "He is not taking his medication" !

I have bought my first DOB.
No navigation.
No motors.
...running on stealth ...!
SW Flex Dob 10
(Its so small - cute - compared to the CPC1100)

This will get them talking up at the Pony Club!
Sorry Geoffro !

Wish me luck as I tackle "collimation" and other DOB issues for the first time.

Believe it or not, Geoff, It never needed collimating.
It held perfect collimation form before i owned it to the sale.
The previous owner bought Bob's nobs but never installed them.
Never needed to.
I never did either.
And i had many critical "experts" confirm it was right many times at the Pony Club.

I bought a cute little SW Flex Dob 10, David.

Hi,

I believe it too (was kidding partly). My C8 is very good the same way, if I don't jolt it.

Cheers
