Comet Wilson and LMC

OK, I know we have had a few images of Comet Lovejoy and the LMC but here is a passage of another comet from another time.

This is an image from Suzy's thread (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/s...ad.php?t=87084 ) I thought I would share here on the Solar System forum.

Taken on or within a day of 6th May 1987, Canberra, I captured Comet Wilson (1986l) alongside the LMC which had the supernova SN1987A still brightly shining. 45mm, f/2.8, 1000ASA, 30sec exposure, Petri Racer rangefinder camera on a fixed tripod.

Thanks for looking,

Tom

I would like to say it brings back memories but I was 4 years old at the time. Nice work

Thanks everyone Comet Wilson was my second comet after Halley, which got me into astronomy in the first place. Here is part of a map from Astronomy Magazine Jan 1987 depicting the path of Comet Wilson. It looks like from this that the image in the first post may be from the 5th of May.

I remember that Tom. 1987a was visible from the back porch. My first foray into Astrophotography with camera and tripod was Halley's. Long hiatus since.
