IC2944 AP140 planetary neb in image

I finally got a few clear nights at my dark site. It seems like months since I last did any imaging. It was just after Christmas.

Taken at my dark site observatory last Thurs and Friday nights.

AP140 with Tak 4 inch flattener, MMOAG and Lodestar guiding on a Paramount MX mount.

I love this scope.

HaLRGB. 4 hours 50 minutes.

I also took some luminance of the Horsehead and planned to get the Ha and RGB the following night but the weather reverted to cloud and rain.

Greg.

Perhaps the chicken is a myth!

The AP140 visually has the tightest stars of any scope I have ever looked through. I mean stunningly pinpoint.

Thanks Marcus. I actually used your excellent Chicken as a guide for mine and influenced my processing quite a bit.

In fact I came up with a new technique in an effort to match the detail as well as the transparency your image has ( I think yours is top notch - can u tell?)

Greg.

Nicely done Greg. A very good wide field chicken. Goodness knows when I'll ever get another image given this weather. If there's another La Nina next summer I might take up something else.

Cheers

Steve

Thanks Steve.

I know what you mean. I have taken up panorama mosaics with DSLRs and the occasional bird photo with my TEC110.

Planetary Nebula in image

There is a tiny planetary nebula to the bottom left of the main nebula.

Here is a crop to show it more clearly:

I noticed it when looking at the large version of the image.

Amazing what you can find in your images.

Greg.
