John,

Still some pretty good detail. This is an interesting side of Mars.

clearly you define "average" different to the rest of us Asi - that's a very detailed image. Regards Ray

Not really Ray. See screenshot of one of the frames. I'd say there are 70% of these 'quality' frames in the AVI. In anything above average seeing, I'll jump straight to F40. in this case F30 was lucky to be supported.

Thanks Mike, & 'work' is exactly what it was; if you can call sitting at the computer stacking the same AVI again & again until you come up with the perfect stack based on the conditions 'work' I call it 'enjoyable work' if nothing else. You'd know all this yourself anyway. Can't expect a nice result straight up, from iffy conditions..

Nice work Asi, the hi frame rates of these latest generation cameras sure are a boon in ordinary seeing.

Well done

Trevor

Thanks Trevor. They certainly are. I just wish I could go quicker than 60FPS but it still beats the Toucam days.

Nice John, hoping for clear conditions tonight too. I would love to get this view, as yet I don't have a clear view of this region.

Very nice once again John!

So I take it you are using a DMK21AU618.AS then?

The reason I ask is that I have my eye on the DBK version, just wanted to ask (as the planetary speak for themselves) have you tried it for any DSO stuff with the "up to 60 mins" long exposure mode?

Very hard to find some good examples of long exposure with the IS cameras that arent so-so and I would be interested to know if you have tried it or not?

Cheers

Chris

Hi Chris. No mate, I'm using the DBK618. I've never used any IS camera for DSO work, but I've seen some very nice results. Have a bit of a browse through here > http://www.astronomycameras.com/community/gallery/

Frameshot

Thanks for the screenshot John, it gives me a real idea of what to expect when capturing with the DBK. A long road ahead of me to get images anywhere near yours but I have taken the first few steps (and hopefully it isn't quite a 1000 miles to go ). Beautiful work as always!

Thanks for your comments Peter, appreciated.

Don't worry, you're already halfway there having the camera & a C11. The other half is the seeing & spot on collimation; & to a degree, thermal management.

Look forward to your results & hope to offer any advice if needed
