New Toy - SM60 has arrived!

The SM 60 Solarmax scope has turned up. Photos are below. It was very securely packaged and the carry case it comes with is very nice. Initial impression is that it is a substantial little piece of gear. As others have noted probably the only bit that is a worry is the nylon screws that hold the drawtube and the eyepeice in place. Apart from that, it seems very well made.

I have checked and I can mount it on my camera tripod and I have an Orion precison slow motion mount adaptor so I can manually track for reasonable periods with have to touch the tripod itself. Otherwise I will see if it will mount on my old EQ2 mount.

Now just have to wait for some clouds to clear!!!

Well I have managed to mount on my old EQ2 mount, so will be able to have a play with some daylight imaging using my little cheap CCD I have. Results will prob be rubbish but at least I am sure to learn something!
(Probably that it needs a better mount and camera and laptop and imaging program and........!)
