Deep Sky Training Video

I am not sure if this programme has been mentioned before or not,as I only joined this forum a few days ago. I was checking out the links and came across a web site http://www.cloudynights.com and in the classfieds there is a programme called "Deep Sky" If your like me and going to buy or have a GoTo scope this is a must see Video. A few tips when viewing it, I have a DSL 512/128 connection and it was taking about 5 mins for each segment to download, so if you are on a dial up and don't want the phone tied up for to long (though going to cost you a phone charge each time to re dial ) when he starts talking go to the bottom of screen and hit the pause button, and wait until it has downloaded, then go off line and hit the play button, do this for each segment ie:Introduction,Installing,Running for the first time etc, even if your not on dial up as he will start the demo then it will stop and wait for the rest of the segment to download, also depending on how busy your server and the web site is it can be very slow. Anyway I found it very interesting and it has given me a insight how this sort of software works, BTW it's the first one I've looked at and there may be better one's out the, but this is well worth a look here is the link to the video.Enjoy

I use Star Atlas Pro and Deepsky Astronomy Software (DAS) with Star Atlas Pro as my main program. DAS is an excellent program and once you get used to it, it is quite easy to use with an excellent database and with the DVD verson, plenty of pictures of the objects you are looking at. Both these prgrams are ASCOM based so they are compatable with a wide variety of telescope GOTO designs.

If you are after an excellent free ASCOM based GOTO program, try Cartes du Ceil.
