Mars 8th Feb

Loads of cloud and the seeing wasn't great, but I am happier with the result. I think it is better than my last

Not bad Rob, yes the cloud stopped me from imaging last night. That and being exhausted from driving to Clare and back during the day. Still yet to get an image of Mars for this apparition. The phase is getting quite full now.

A creditable effort Rob, reckon there is still things to learn even in less than great seeing that all help to get a better result when the seeing is good.

Regards
Trevor

Thanks Paul.
It always seems to be cloudy lately when the seeing is better
And I know what it is like to drive to Clare and back (done plenty of that ) Helpfully (not) I notice they have reduced the speed limit on the back road! I s'pose overall it doesn't make a big difference, but it does when you are tired.

Hi Rob
That is a better one - well done. Lots of recognisable features in it too!

Very pleasing, I love Sinus Sabaeus feature and Icecap hinting at detail. We just need good seeing its not asking much.

John.

Thanks John,
I was pleased with the old 8" as it's not in great condition these days
I would love to refurbish the coatings, but $$ I would rather spend on my 10" and I have the 14" Dob pretty well sorted now, but don't like to drag it out if there's a chance of rain as the mount is only chipboard
Then of course as you say some nice seeing

Nice detail Rob. I think you got a lot more frames stacked in this image than the earlier one which has helped, and even more will help. All you need is good seeing conditions.

All the best.

Thanks Lester there were 500 frames I think, a lot were under exposed due to the passing cloud though, which I think has added to the noise
