I have noticed quite a few people here on this forum into remote control helicopters.They certainly are interesting to watch-although I have no desire
to own one.

This one here is a little larger-it flew right over my position today,I had the 400L and had not had any luck with the wedge tail eagles,so thought I'd have
some practice on this 'Augusta' EMQ helicopter-(which according to writing underneath is sponsored by 'Rio Tinto')

Nice shot Chris,

Until they opened the new helipad ontop of the PA hospital, I could watch this chopper coming into land through the window of the operating theatres - big sucker!

Very boring now, you just hear them...

Thanks David-knew you would enjoy this-quite amazing to be able to peer right up and see the under cart all folded up underneath it.

Unfortunately,it was on the way back to Brisbane,I was out in a paddock without the camera when it came up to Kingaroy,and it was very low and on an very good angle to me,would have made a great shot.

I have observed that when these come up flying low,they will always come back at a very similar altitude-so was ready for his return trip.

That is a real shame about the new operating theatres with no windows for helicopter viewing-that it most inconsiderate of hospital management.

Yes-it is a very large helicopter-think this one is EMQ's largest,is it an 'Augusta'?-think there might be a military version for submarine warfare.

I googled it when they first got this chopper - it can carry ~15 oil workers out to an offshore platform. I've only seen it from a distance, but I think you could throw a party in the back. The Bell 412s are quite small inside and have a large obstruction across the back wall of the rear compartment - the stretchers load on either side.

That is a quite a large helicopter-15 oil rig workers as a payload,is certainly a lot.
Never new its was quite that large-its certainly a very nice looking helicopter.

Here is another couple of images of another helicopter,that passed me,while on was on to of a sand dune near Noosa.Looks like it could be a 'Longranger'.Not sure-but looks like you could have a good party in this one.

Yep, that's definitely a Longranger Chris. Not as pretty as the normal Jetranger in my opinion. You don't see many Jetrangers or Longrangers around any more, whereas back in the 80's and 90's they were everywhere.

I've been lucky enough (and in one case VERY lucky) to have flown in choppers a fair bit. Types include Hughes 500C, McDonnel Douglas (Hughes) MD500D, Eurocopter EC-135, and Kawasaki BK-117.
