ccdsoft with TCF-S

hi everyone,

I need some help trying to focus using the optec TCF-S through ccdsoft v5.

First i setup the focuser to com port 3 and could control it through the computer.

Then i went into ccdsoft, went camera control --> setup --> selected the correct focuser --> then focuser settings --> selected com port 3 then pressed OK. when I then press connect in the camera control tab or try to focuss with ccdsoft, I get the error code 201, im told the com port is not available or is being used by another device (something like that, the equipment is now dissconected)

How do I connect the focuser with ccdsoft?

Any help is appreciated

Josh

ccd soft error

I had a similar problem when trying with a USB focuser for a Moonlite focus controller. What I had to do was go into the computer nether regions and delete all the com port settings then reconnect all the required software one by one- this sorts out the com port conflicts.
Google the 're- set com ports' to see how as I can't exactly remember now the procedure.
cheers
Graham

Ive just seen this message on the software bisque website;

"The optional CCDSoft Camera Plug In adds support for additional devices (cameras, focusers, filter wheels) that are not included with the CCDSoft Version 5 upgrade or CCDSoft Version 5 that is distributed by SBIG with new SBIG cameras".

I think this may be my problem as the version of ccdsoft i have came with my camera.

ive sent a message to software bisque

Im advised this is not the problem, the issue lies in the serial ports.

Ive got the focuser to work in ccdsoft now,

I did 2 things, first do what Graham said by following these instructions.
Then i changed the com port number by following these instructions.

I was also required to change the com port in the optec TCF-S focuser dialogue box.

In fact, I may have not needed to change anything. the problem may have lied in the fact that there was a com port already connected to the tcf-s control dialogue box when i was trying to also conect it to ccdsoft and so they were trying to use the same com port. I found that they both ccdsoft and the tcf-s can have the same com port assigned to them as long as they are not being used at the same time.

Others have probably found this to be the case and this is probably old news, but i will ask, is this what others have found?

thanks
Josh
