Rosette said the Pig in Lipstick!

Had some friends over and cooked a nice roast, so was points up when the sky cleared! (Honey just going outside to check the sky etc!)
Here-my friends, and especially to you Adam, is the pig in lipstick Rosette! With home modded Canon 450D+ CLS CCD filter, iso 1000, three minute lights x 10 (clouds again spoilt the rest) plus flats and darks.
For those who don't know- the pig in question is a cheap 8" reflector with a bright red moonlite focuser.
This is my first (shared) Rosette so am inordinately proud of it-having had a go several times before and not getting it right.
Stacked in DSS and tweaked in StarTools and Paint.Net.
Cheers
Graham

Nice one Graham. The Rosette came up well. Pity about the clouds.

fantastic graham - you even got the leaping cheetah, and can just about make out the donkey.

So, there was a pig, a cheetah, and a donkey....sounds like that start of a good joke! Can anyone finish it for me?

Having my cleanout, I came across the bahtinov mask for that scope. Its no good to me anymore, so I will try to get it in the post for you. It really does make focusing a whole lot easier.

Cheers
Adam

That's a wicked image Graham! Easily your most promising data to date!

Small tip again. You forgot rule #1 before your start processing which is getting rid of stacking artifacts around the borders of the image (keep following tutorial #1 about preparing your data for processing). You'll find all the automation will produce much better results without such artificial data in your image - the green fuzz should disappear and the automated stretching will yield much better results.
You might also want to use to Lens module if you don't have a field flattener to fix the star elongation. Or if you stars are of a high enough resolution (can be problematic with a wide field like this) you could use the Repair module to fix them up.
There's heaps of intricate detail that I was able to recover, even from the JPEG.

Brilliant data!

Cheers,
