G'day Mike,
Thanks for the advice on this show as it was a good presentation. Neil de Grasse Tyson is the head of the Hayden Planetarium and I did have to chuckle at certain points in the show as I recognised scenes from the Hayden produced "Search for Life: Are We Alone?" planetarium show.
An insiders note about this Hayden production: they don't follow IAU rulings. I say this because there are 2 times in the show "Search For Life: Are We Alone?" where iconsistancies with the IAU are evident. In one part the orbits of the planets about our Sun are shown, but Pluto is not one of those orbits. In another part they state as
fact that Europa has a sub-surface ocean of water!
This show, "Science: Origins", was very well presented and Tyson gave a clear understanding of the links involved in unraveling the goings on since the Big Bang. It put things that I have known about into place thus making the bigger picture alot clearer. I will make the note however, that it seemed somewhat USA-centric.
All in all...a good watch
Peter.
