M42 with QHY10 and FSQ at F3.6

Finally an image. The weather has almost got the better of me. Between this crappy weather, work and illness I was starting to wonder if I would ever get back out in my Obs.
This image is a combine of 10 X 5 minute frames with the QHY10 OSC and my sweet FSQ running at F3.6 with the reducer fitted.
No calibration files what so ever so still a bit of work to go. I also need to do something with the core etc.
At least I am back out under the stars. With the long break since BSG where things didn't go to well I really enjoyed last night and today fiddling with the image.
This is the full frame. No crop at all.

Very nice image. If you could give me advice that would be great. I have a EQ6Pro skywatcher mount and would love one of these FSQ106. At the moment I use a Williams Optics Flt 110 but would replace this with the Takahashi ED or EDX. I have a QHY-9 but also thinking of going a sbig 11000M. Would I be better of going for a better mount first as would this make a difference with the quality of my data coming in???

Thanks David, a somewhat different camera in the way the electronics work but out front it does seem to work and quite well also.

Thanks Darren. It would be better if I could get 2 nights in a row.
I have half an image of NGC300 which will have to wait till next year till it is overhead again to finish it off.

Thanks Mark. Hard question. The real answer is mount, mount, mount but having said that the FSQ weighs in at 7KG which is managable. It really depends on the other hardware you use and the mount itself. I have seen some very good EQ6's and some very ordinary ones. You also must remember the base scope is only f5 which is quite forgiving with guiding.
As for the 11000 camera, there are better suited cameras for an FSQ than the 11000. This will probably start world war 3 but the smaller pixels of the QHY9 are far better suited than the 9um pixels of the 11000. I had an 11000 camera and found a real lot of the stars imaged with the FSQ were single pixels and on zoom were square.

All I can sugest is load your mount up to the sort of load you expect to use and see how it works with the 110 imaging away. If OK, buy the scope.

Good luck.

Thanks Mike. Yes great to get back outside but it's just another place I would kill for a coffin nail. Have to talk to the wife. Perhaps sex is a good alternative. Might keep the weight off too.

Really nice shot Doug for the exposure time. That dust is really coming up so with more data and shorter frames that field of view with the QHY10 will be a spanker!

Thanks Mike, Talk didn't work. Walking in pain, high squeaky voice and it hurts to breath in. No smokes for me.

Wow Doug, That's a ripper image for a straight 50 min. I'm impressed by the QHY10 and still got one in my sights but after some big spending these holidays will just have to wait a while.

Hope all is going well for you Doug and good to see your back up and imaging away again.

Cheers Daniel.

A lot of potential there Doug with some lovelly darker detail. It's great to be back under the stars again eh!

How are you finding the QHY10? It's on my radar at the moment.

Thanks for showing.

Thanks Darrin, at the moment some mixed feelings about the 10 but I really haven't had much of a chance to give it a work out or even set it up properly. Looking good though. It's nice to get a basic image on these short summer evenings which is nhear impossible with a mono.
