This coming Monday is the peak of a close flyby of asteroid 2000 PN9. http://neo.jpl.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/db?name=2000+PN9
This 2km wide hunk of rock will appear as a Mag 12 object as it sails past just 2 Million miles away from the earth.
Not spectacular, but interesting to watch moving accross the background stars in this close encounter.
No worries Asi, I hope someone can see it & perhaps put together a movie of its progress accross the sky, which I imagine will be quite rapid !
BTW well done in the Photo challenge too
I just knew that someone, somewhere would film this event !
There is a link, to a clip spanning 12 minutes (time lapsed) on spaceweather today. http://www.spaceweather.com/
Pity I had clouds , did anyone else get a look at it visually ?
I'd been hoping to catch it too, as I was reporting on it's fly-boy on the latest Dark Matters podcast, but it's been clouds for a week or 2 here in Brisbane. I've missed comet pojmanski too unfortunately
I downloaded the all the info into the computer, set up the 8", but was completely clouded out, which has been the case for nearly all of the last few weeks.
