Unhappy Molly

Molly Meldrum fell badly last night while decorating his house for Christmas. He has severe head injuries and is in a induced coma. He is fighting for his life and the next 24hrs will be critical.

He was always a bit of a burke and annoyed me but at the same time I really quite liked him. I found myself surprisingly upset by the news. So I found a couple of exerts of pure gold.

I agree,

Ian is one of those people that you love to hate......until something like this happens and you cant help but wish him well, he, for better or worse has become one of Australia's icons, *sigh* never thought I would say that... However 65 years young and being this crook from simply hanging Christmas decorations sux. Get well Molly.

I also have never been a fan of Molly but I acknowledge he is a leader in his field of pop music (ugh) and has made a great vocation of what is a hobby as well. Get well soon Molly your fans need you!.

Now a warning to all you other over 65's as a person who fell off a ladder a week ago. NEVER GO ABOVE THE THIRD RUNG ON A LADDER. By obeying this rule I only hurt my pride when I landed in soft mud but it has still been uncomfortable to sit down since!

I was fortunate to work with Molly amongst others during most of the 1990's on Hey Hey It's Saturday. The guy has so much energy and his efforts in getting big name performers over the years to this country is very underestimated.

There is the well known story that after Russell Morris completed recording "The Real Thing", Molly (who produced the song) was so afraid of presenting it to the finished product to Sydney record executives of EMI that he fled with the master tape into the parkland around Albert Park, where he hid for several hours.

Get well Molly!

Wow! I worked on Hey Hey too! '78 to '81

Yes, very sad about Molly
To know him personally is to know a friend, not a big-headed celebrity.

I am surprised that the news said Molly lived alone and was at home alone when the accident happened.
After his dear old lady Housekeeper died he must have never replaced her.
And where was Rui? (his 'friend').

I wish him well.

Hi,

He's slowly slowly getting better, it is reported. This is a sobering look at such injuries:

Sorry Suzy, but it's a secret

Nah, not really, but this thread is best left to news about Molly, not what we did on Hey Hey
Struff like that is best done via PM or in Doug's Chatroom
