Concrete sealer/paint

Now I've finished my pier and it's curing I'd like to patch it up for a nice finish then apply a coat of 'plastic' type paint like the type you use for indoors concrete slabs in garages, etc...

First what do you guys recommend to patch litlle holes and cosmetic stuff then what type of paint for concrete would you use?

Thanks for any pointers.

G'day Marc,

You could use ready mix cement render and then the cheaper brand of paving paint from Bunnies. D

If the imperfections are small, render unto Caesar what is Caesar's use a little mortar with some PVA (wood glue) in it. If they're likely to spall off, use an epoxy filler and sand back after - Application of finish should include a decent primer - it's going to be out in some harsh sunlight and it will get quite hot on one side whilst still being cool on the other.

it needs to be slightly flexible as the concrete will be shrinking for a little while due to the hydration process then like chris said you will have temperature differentials causing one side of the pier to expand while the other not so much!

Concrete pier paint

You have to let the concrete cure for a month before painting I would use exterior polly filler the grey one easier to sand than builders bog and then any exterior paving paint Epoxy is better but more expensive . Berger jet dry is ok too if you are going to use an epoxy paint then don't use
The Polly filler use the builders bog

Thanks mate. I'll watch it dry for a month or so. It's getting nice and white now. I'll paint it with my daughter. She has some cool ideas to decorate it. Cool project.
