Jupiter from 3rd

Turned out to be too windy for my little Nexstar to cope Saturday night so I put the webcam into the dob to try my luck. Can't get focus with the webcam alone but with the 3x barlow I can. After playing around on the moon to my surprise I managed to capture enough frames of Juptier with real manual tracking to produce this image. It was a bit frantic moving from the scope to the laptop and back trying to keep things going. It's enough to make me think I should look at how to do this with the 10" more seriously.

Good pic, soft on detail but exposure and colours are excellent. You're off to a good start, the bug has bitten.

Nice, I like the smoothness of your image, it's a bit low on detail but I tend to over process to get as much detail as possible, but result in excessive image noise. If you can maintain this low level of noise, actually no image grain and get a bit more detail, it would be perfect.

Thanks Brent & Maruisz.

Focus was defintely off. If I stopped to focus I would lose it out of the frame. This one showed no real improvement with an unsharp mask so I left it alone.

Now I need to work out how to track with this setup.

This one was with the SPC900NC & 3X barlow in the 10" Lightbridge. I had to manually nudge the scope to keep it in frame. It was a spur of the moment test really.

Great... I think using registax it should be OK for planetary detail as long as you get a few seconds of a uniform planetary drift through the FOV with each nudge.

Looking forward to see more of your work.
