Got up at 4am on a Sunday (crazy, I know! ) to image Jupiter.. got most of a GRS transit including as it crossed the CM.. The seeing was great! It looks so far to be my best Jupiter image ever.. at least, my best with the GRS!
I've done the ppmcentre'ing and splitting into R/G/B, but won't be able to post any results until tomorrow morning when I'm back on the CRT.
Anyone else take advantage of the great seeing around sydney?
Good Morning Mike -i Was Up Last Night Flying Back From Ballart In Vic, The Night Sky Looked Good From 30,000ft Unfortunatly It Was Cloudy When Igot Home.be Good To See Those Pics.i Got To See The Ballarat Observatory Nice Set Up Both New &old.
Err...I managed to collect a thin film of water on my C9.25 corrector plate as my contribution to easing the drought in Brisbane....
I was putting the kettle on whilst (I thought) the Orion Star Shooter was having a poke at M83 approaching the zenith. From the kitchen, over the noise of the kettle coming to the boil, I heard the pitter patter of a Qld downpour, so I rushed outside and switched off all mains power before throwing tarps over all the gear.
No damage, although the corrector looks quite mottled, but I suspect that cleaning it would make it worse, so I'll leave the glass alone until it really does need a clean.
Therefore, not much from me I’m afraid. Look forward to seeing your Joops.
Mike you are a tease! You'll be pulling in the DP and Asi crabs with this little tempter
not a chance....................well, maybe i am might be interested a little..........god damn it mike, not even a single frame from the video or a quick registax run through...........
but just like the next round of intimacy with the wife, apparently it is worth the wait............no matter how long that wait is...........a real long wait.........when's my birthday again????
Good one Mike - I was set up to try again this morning, but the usual easterly breeze and low cloud came across again, we must lose 80% of summer nights to low cloud...
Hi,
As Dave Pretorious was kind enough to point out to me where to find Jupiter this morning if i was up early enought, and as I had to be up at 5am to go to work, yes I did get to see the beautiful stripey one! It was my first view of Jupiter and just beautiful ... I also had a bright clear sky. I'm still working out how to get the nudge thing just right with the Dob to keep things in the field of view - I'm surprised how fast they move away.
I was just disappointed that my little 6 year old was sleeping too soundly to wake him up because he's just dying to see Jupiter.
Cheers, Beth.
