Anyone have one of these modest 114mm scopes with a 500mm focal length OTAs they'd like to see go to a new home?
If it means also taking its mount to facilitate the sale, sure, though I'm just after the OTA. I don't need eyepieces or a finder either. As long as the optics are OK, the tube can be bunged up, it doesn't matter. I'm looking to use this in a DIY project.

If refractor and you sound like you want to DIY, you could check Surplus Shed - they have a Jaegers cemented objective 110mm diameter x 495mm focal length for US$125. Of course there is a bit more to it than this, have to make a housing for the lenses then a tube and focusing etc. It is something I am considering but at this stage, I don't know how much effort is involved getting all the right bits.
They have others in different sizes and FL's that are already mounted in a cell which might make things easier.
