.com vs .com.au vs .org.au

Curious... Why is this site a .com rather than a .com.au or better still .org.au?

The .au I believe is important. I often restrict my web searches to .au sites when I want Aussie info. I presume others do the same. Google even has a checkbox for it.

I agree completely, having iceinspace.com.au would definitely get more search engine results because of searching for aussie only.

I started a thread about it here, discussing the how's and why's and why I haven't done it yet.

It's still on my to-do list.

Thanks for the link. I had a quick read through the thread. What a nightmare with the bureaucracy! Maybe if you register as a non-profit org, you can recoup your expenses in tax-free scope gear...
