Witch Head Nebula

Hi
This is my first successful image using a ccd camera apart from testing.
…….problems and bad weather etc. getting in the way!!!

Witch Head Nebula IC 2118 in Eridanus taken at Wiruna, last new moon
You can see the glow from the blue super giant star Rigel in Orion just out of frame to the right, there are a few small galaxies and lots of dust and gas in the background.

18 x 10 min. frames with Starlight Xpress m25 one shot colour ccd
fsq + reducer and em200 mount
Processed with dss and cs5

thanks Louie and Ross for your support

Hi Richard,

A beautiful photo of a faint object.

The quality is excellent, however it's the colours and composition that really make it stand out.
One of the nicest photos of the Witches Head Nebula that I have seen.

Thanks.

Ross.

That really is a great result. I tried imaging this without realising just how faint it really is - you have done a great job and love the colours.

Great image of the Witch Head Richard!
Your processing looks very well done and I love the fov you are getting with your M25 and FSQ.. great combo, especially for these faint hard to get nebulas.
The SX M25 is still one of the best OSC CCD's around, so you're on a winner here.

Look forward to more.

Rich
