I used interparcel to get a complete 8" F6 Dob and its base from sydney to melbourne, 45kg in all.
they got it via tnt road for a very reasonable price.
just need the boxes to be ready for pickup.
Hi Doug, Aussie post has a policy of under 1200mm , I am sure if you removed the dew shield and covered the lense with the cap , and put the shield beside the scope in its box it would be well under 1200mm .

I agree, more than one way to skin that cat. Look at Brian's suggestion, I'd be looking at removing the dew shield and focuser, package them carefully, and send in a separate box.

Thanks guys. If somebody else shows interest, i will get serious about finding abox for it. I could also take off the focusor, if the buyer was ok at collimation.
