Fornax Wide View

Hi Graham,

The image is great - what equipment (Telescope, Mount etc) and settings did you use?

Thanks

Fornax Wide field shot

Thanks Dudes,
I shot on two nights using my 80mm Meade refractor, firstly centred on NGC 1365 then on NGC 1399. I didn't know that they would overlap till I stacked them and noticed the same small galaxies on the periphery of the NGC 1365 set.
I then used a programme called DoubleTake (http://echoone.com) you can use on Macs, to align and resize the two stacked shots.
They were all taken on my unmodified Canon DSLR 450D at prime focus iso 400, four minute exposures with calibration frames. I took about 2 hours worth for each set but lost some to clouds etc.
Guided in PHD with an SSAG mini guider set up. The mount was my CGEM.

I was looking at this part of the sky last Saturday, and again last night. There are so many galaxies to be found in Fornax. I often think Fornax should be renamed, "Forgax" (ie for galaxies)....

Thanks for posting this wide angle view.
