Worst Sci-Fi Movies Ever

What's the worst Sci-Fi movie you've seen?

This is my offering.

Voyage to the Prehistoric Planet.
Starring Basil Rathbone.

I found this DVD at the LifeLine Bookfest for 50c. I now think that I paid too much for it.
It's a hybrid Russian/US movie spliced/stapled together in 1965. I can put up with dodgy sets and costumes so long as there is a half decent storyline, this doesn't have one. It's crap through and through, boring and slow.
This fella did a good writeup about it, saves me hurting my head thinking about this stupid flick.

I have a 50 movie pack - 12 disks, double sided dual layered DVD's - that I bought on ebay a while ago. Voyage to the prehistoric planet is one of them I think, they are ALL on par with each other.

One of them, can't remember which right now, is SO cheap and nasty that they didn't have money for the evil alien Overlord's costume .. or his headquarters .... so they dressed him a gorilla suit but put a cheapo "space helmet" on the top and called him a robot. I kid you not! His lair is a "narrow" vertical workstation type affair in the mouth of a dry and dusty cave. World domination here we come!

Don't get me wrong, I knew what I was buying when I got these, as nasty as they are I really enjoy some of these old crappy B&W sci fi horrors.

I could tell you about another movie in this pack with the monster that has ping pong balls for eyes, but I think you get the picture.

Hi Guys
I think Plan 9 from outer space ( made by Ed Wood ) is hard to beat but that movie that had a guy in a gorilla suit and diving helmet (which is called Robot Monsters ) is a classic too .
Hard to beleive these people were serious when they made these movies and teenagers paid money to go see them in the sixties , of couse kids have much better taste now

My all time favourite would have to be "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes"

Plan 9, people still pay money to see it now, I bought the dvd a few months ago for 9.95 worth ever cent.
For a film made in the late 50s I think its underated, any film that gets mentioned on Sienfeld (The Hot Coffee) and is available on DVD has survived the test of time better than a lot of others. I give it 3 stars.

Could bring it to Lostock to raise money, people have to pay not to watch it.

Darkstar is very memorable for me. It is either very bad or very good depending on your state of intoxication - hippies in a spaceship flying around the galaxy destroying stars and being hunted by a predator that greatly resembles a beach ball.

"Xtro" is one to miss, billed as "Not all ET's are friendly" Science fiction/Horror and pretty lacking in both. It's the usual story, alien comes to Earth, shapeshifts and eats people. There lots of screaming and blood to make up for the lack of everything else.

cheers

Interesting situation with this one. As a kid, I was entralled and loved the original series back in the 60's. I'm not sure why, but when I went to see the movie as an adult decades later I somehow assumed that the subject matter would have grown up with me and the movie would appeal to me as I am now. Of course, I was entirely wrong, as the movie was still designed to appeal to kids. My silly assumption - not the producer's.

'Them'

It is about giant ants that take over the world, but obviously all the ants get killed by the one man with the solution to rid the world of these badly filmed and super-imposed creatures. Oh, and he gets the girl too (of course)

That one just reminded me of one Ken. (Must have been subconsciously blocking it). My daughter used to love this movie, and I hated it with a passion. Starring Geena Davis, Jeff Goldbloom and Jim Carey. "Earth Girls are Easy" It's probably the only thing my ex and I ever agreed on.

Dark Star rocks!! Classic Carpenter. The enthusiastic argumentative talking bombs, the "spaced out" dude in his bubble under the stars, the whole story and the execution are just hilarious. Anyone else spot the very effective use of muffin tins on the spacesuit costumes?

Really lame but watchable-:
The original Little Shop of Horrors, Jack Nicholson had his screen debut in it.
The Day of the Triffids, it doesn't scare me like it used to when I was a kid.

Did any of you see the movie "Stone" when it first came out?
I thought this was the best movie ever at the time. Kids would turn up at the theatre carrying motor bike helmets and leather jackets trying to look tough.
We made the mistake of hiring the DVD a while ago. What a piece of crap! What was I thinking at the time?

I have the anniversary edition of "Stone", yes it's dated but still a classic.
I remember the all the kids with their helmets as well but I did have a Kawasaki 900 with 4 into 1 pipes out the front to ride off on, made you feel a million dollars.

great stuff
