Jupiter 20th Nov

Took some more AVI's tonight and did a quick process on one of them. It's starting to look a bit more like Jupiter, I even got the GRS. I'll go through the rest and see what else I have. I tried a range of settings so not expecting them all to work.

There is definitely some nice detail in there, nicely done! Was that captured with the webcam?
What processing regime are you using?
It could take a little more sharpening and saturation, I've overdone it a bit here (I spent less than a minute on it) but you can see there is more detail to be extracted, and I had only your final .bmp to work with. If you reprocess your .avi files you should be able to really bring out the beauty of the light you captured.

I hope you don't mind me having a play with your image, I over saturated it a bit, but it does bring out some of the detail. Make sure your screen/monitor is calibrated as well, it can make a huge difference.

This was done with the Nexstar 80GTL and the SPC900NC with a 3x barlow. Have you considered taking multiple shots with your camera and stacking them? BTW, how do you align your camera to the EP? I've tried just holding it and it doesn't work.

No problems Peter. I could see there is more there while I was playing with it in Gimp but then the centre gets saturated and it looks over processed to my liking. The .bmp I upload is the full image, that is the scale I am getting from this setup.

Hi Michael,

The shots which i have taken are actually screenshots from a Mov. clip of jupiter. Because it is a Mov. file I cannot proces it in registax,I tried a converting program to covert it to avi and it still didn't work.So I grabbed one single frame and proceesed it using photoshop.

I basically hold the camera to the eyepiece and centre it until jupiter comes into view then begin filming. Its unsteady filming but if you freeze the film you can get some pretty good results.

Regards
Orestis

Can you upload me a .mov file somewhere from your camera, I'll convert it to a registax compatible sequence and then send you the instructions on how to do so. You will get way better results. Which camera do you have?

I've followed Mike's article on processing with some substitutions and got into a bit of a routine. Here are the one's that worked more or less. I will still have to go back over them as I didn't get consistant colour results and no doubt there are other improvements to be made.
