Jupiter

Thought I would add a shot of Jupiter and Io with unknown star (bottom right) shot with 8" SCT and 2x barlow with a quickcam 3000.

That's looking pretty good Allen.
Do you have a larger version say (640x480) of it?

the detail looks great, does the 3000 allow 640 x 480 recording?

i think i can make out JRS "junior red spot" in the shadow

The shot was taken last year when I moved from Melbourne to Brtisbane. It was a hot and muggy night and as I could not sleep I thought I would try to do an animation of Io going acrss Jupiter and catch the GRS at the same time. I was lucky in doing it and was quite pleased with the result except that I cant post it here as its 7 mb which is too large. Took about 5 hours with an avi every 10 min. Lot of processing. If someone has a site I could download it to to let others view then I could send it to them.
Regards, Allan Gould

Ps The processing was done in (what else) Registax v2

The shot was taken at 320 x 240, 5fps, 1/5 sec, ~10% gain and 70% saturation. My old laptop can't handle 640x480 and high speeds, so I'm a bit limited.

nice and sharp there.... could the image scale be bumped up a tad without loosing too much detail?

Ok here's Allan's great animated gif of Jupiter.

I saved the 8-meg 30-frame avi into individual BMP frames, and then loaded them into Jasc animation shop and created a 200k animated gif.

Hope you don't mind Allan, but the quality is the same and the file size is much much smaller.
