First attempts with a LPI

First off I would like to thank Orion For his help with my new LPI at the last NAS viewing night. The software and the manual dont seem to bear too close a relationship and his help was great.
Saturn is from the viewing night and the moon is from last night(clear sky at last). Equipment is an ED80,2x barlow,LPI on an LXD55 mount.
I don't really have a clue what I'm doing with either the meade software or registax so any comments and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Pretty good for a first attempt, focus looks OK, if in doubt, ask away.

Hi Kyecat. It would be better if you could save your images as jpeg, rather than BMP. That way, they show thumbnails on the post and the size is reduced too.

Something isn't quite right with the scale either, it's like they're still in thumbnail mode. Have you still got your originals to try and resave as JPEG, like 640x480 resolution?

Hi Kyecat, the moon shots look great, nice and sharp at least shrunk down to this scale. Looks like Saturn might be a bit over-exposed - were you using the Saturn defaults in the LPI software in autostar suite? Not sure if you've used a barlow or not, but it would certainly be useful for boosting your image scale with the relative short focal ratio of the ED80.

Great start and welcome to the crew!

cheers,

You certainly did a great job on the moon and I'm sure the planets will start looking better and better with experience.

There are lots of people here that are willing and able to give you advice.

Well done on your first attempt!
