DBK21618AS Lack of colour

I cannot get colour images out of my DBK21. The screen on my PC shows colour when I capture the video image, but playback in IC capture and media player is BW. Also In registack file is in BW.

Anyone help with what I am doing wrong?

Thanks.

regards luke

There is a pdf getting around that explains the process of capturing colour and converting the resultant mono image to colour. I cant seem to find it though . I have an old one for Registax 4 and DFK21 and I've used in on my DBK31 np. If you'd like it send me an email. Its too big to load here.

Cheers

edit: did find this http://www.theimagingsourceforums.co...-Registax-(DFK...)

1. Download and install VirtualDub from http://www.virtualdub.org/

2. Download "VirtualDub Debayering Filter" from http://www.inf.ethz.ch/personal/lballan/demo.html. Put the file debayering.vdf in the plugins subdirectory of VirtualDub.

3. Start VirtualDub and open a Y800 AVI file. I have found VirtualDub supports Y800 natively so ffdshow is not required.

4. Go to Video -> Filters and click Add. Select the Debayering plugin and click OK three times. No changes are needed in the plugin settings dialog for the Y800 files produced by our DFK 31AU03.

5. Now VirtualDub should produce debayered output and you can use File -> Save as AVI to save an uncompressed RGB color video.

Luke,

I have a DBK41 and had exactly the same problem. I captured Jupiter nicely only to process it a few nights later and found it was BW.

In IC Capture, simply ensure you are not using Y800 in the "Device Settings/Video Format". Select YUY2 instead. Then in the "Record Settings/Video Compressor", ensure Y800 is NOT selected. This is what gives you the black and white (well at least on my computer anyway)

Good luck!

Darrin...

You should be using Y800 to capture and then process as colour in R6
Tick the "Show Prefilters" box (near top right) then Debayer>GB
You could use a colour codec but would be restricted to 30fps. Y800 will allow you to capture at 60fps as long as the exposure is shorter than 1/60th (it won't work at 1/60th or less)

Interesting Rob. I was recommended not to use the Y800 on the DBK41. Perhaps the suggestion above is more pertinent to the new 618 model that has just come out or have I been lead up the wrong path and there is more potential out of my DBK than I thought (I hope!)

Thanks for the advice all. I went back to the scope after posting the question and selected the RGB24 option in IC capture. This gave me the colour playback images. However in R6 after stacking the wavelet function did not seem to work in sharpeing the image at all. I will investigated further

thanks again

Sorry for the thread hijack, but coincidentally I had issues with my DBK the other night. Think something went wrong with the bebayering. Image and details here http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/s...ad.php?t=83049

Am going to try those links ponders suggested above and see if results are better.
