What's this worth?

I have this 1965 Fractional HP motor at home, not a scratch of paint off it, looks like it's never been used, still in it's box.

I also have something with matching colours that looks like some kind of gear box.

Anyone got any idea what they are for and what they would be worth? I don't want some shady shark to rip me off something that I think might be valuable.

At a guess, I think the motor would be excellent for making a lathe.

Baz.

Hmmm ... well the motor just looks like a regular single-phase electric motor of around 1/2 horsepower and the second device looks uncannily like some sort of pump.
Given the manufacturer is Simpson Pope my guess would be these are washing machine parts.

Standard induction motor with a fairly low efficiency and power factor (936VA) - indications of a mass produced motor so would support the idea of a washing machine or something like that.

Don't know about the pump though.

But it's in mint condition and maybe a collector out there would eyeball it.
