Just a NT update

Hi Guys, just an update on our adventure traveling Australia.
As some of you know we visited the Top End and spent nearly 4 months around the Darwin area, and what an adventure that was, we had a great time.
Today we started our trek, toward the southern States and left Darwin behind and traveled to Katherine.
We will spend a few days here and then head off toward Alice Springs way with many stops/free camps along the way.
Hopefully we will be in Victoria by mid December to visit the kids and grand kids and then head off again in the new year.
To date this trip we have seen and photographed many beautiful places, and time has slipped past rapidly, we have been on the road for some nine months now.

Internet access out here is pretty ordinary, but we will visit IIS when possible.

Safe travels Leon.

There's plenty to see in the middle of Australia as well.

Thanks Ric, yes, I am looking forward traveling the long flat roads again, one never knows what one may come across.
A bit like this morning when we were walking alone the banks of the river here in Katherine, Alice, one who hates the sight of any snake nearly stepped on a small snake.
Man, it is a wonder you didn't hear her in NSW, what a scream, anyway she has recovered, poor thing.
The snake took off one way and Alice the other

Feel like a Hike?...the Katherine gorge to Edith falls...a 3~4 day overland is a beauty. Camera essential.

If you cannot do that and want a nice private camp spot...hike backwards from Edith falls to sweet water pools..a 1/2~3/4 day hike. Camp at Sweetwater. You are not supposed to hike in that direction (National Park rules)..but no one will know.

Sweetwarer...freshies and fresh water crays abound. Could never catch the crays though..and boy were they big.

Katherine River was very pretty to stroll, and there were some lovely hot springs there, tho we didnt get a chance to test them out.

We did the usual Gorge Cruise, which was bful, though there were smelly bats everywhere!!

Enjoy you onward travels Leon and Alice.

Right on Liz those hot pools at Kathrine are a nice place to wash away the dust and sweat .
Not many people realise this , but the hot springs run all the way up to Berry springs 40km south of Darwin , and are easily gotten to during the dry , and the wet ,,well at your own risk .
Glad to hear you liked it up here , Leon and Alice .
Did you get any star gazing in?
Its the best up here .

Brian.

Thanks guys, yes Liz, did have a dip in the hot springs, but it was a bit to warm for me i like it to be cool and refreshing , it was like taking a bath.
Also been in the Berry Springs Brian, nice place to visit, but alas not much star gazing at all.
We head off to Mataranka tomorrow, and Alice wants to have some famous scones and cream in Larrimah, as well, there supposed to be the best in NT, so I'm told.
